I was a water skier before my accident in 1977 and it was about 18 years before I built a sji to return to a fun sport that I enjoyed skiing with mates in Wakerie SA each year. OK, for a C6 complete quad it isn't easy, but lots of ABs can't ski either!
It is a great fun sport where you can join in a fun activity with friends. You can see photos of me skiing on my website at http://www.gizbytes.com/waterski.htm (http://www.gizbytes.com/waterski.htm)
Also as you can see, I hooked my elbows into a ski kandle made of alloy "cow horn" bike handle bars. Worked well and was easy to hang onto (I've skied over 10 miles in one run up and down the Murray River). I also had a floatation wetsuit made (PFD 2) that did up with velcro between my legs, like an old style dive suit, that made getting that on, much easier. With the right equipment (including a quick release on the boat tow rope) lots of risky sports can be made suitable for PWDs.
Not a sport to be taklen lightly as you must be able to roll from face down to face up independently quickly (I have had bilateral Deltoid Tricept transfers giving me the ability to actively straighten my elbow), or you drown:(
Consider skiing for the coming Summer season if you have mates with a boat or join the Disabled Watersiers Club.
