Honorary PositionsNot-For-Profit Board Sub-Committee Opportunities Values-based Disability Support Organisation AQA Victoria Ltd The organisationAQA Victoria Ltd provides services to people with disabilities and has established a credible reputation, in particular, for specialist services for those with spinal cord injury. AQA is a member based organisation with a vision to improve the quality of life of people affected by physical disability. Our mission is to enable people affected by physical disability to attain maximum independence. We have a highly committed workforce and a board that values leadership, strong governance and accountability. AQA’s Strategic Plan 2008-2012 articulates the vision for the organisation. The structureThe organisation is managed by a board of nine (9) honorary non-executive directors and the CEO. The Board is supported by a number of sub-committees on which there are vacancies on three of the sub-committees, namely: Each sub-committee operates under a charter. Sub-committee members comprise at least two (2) board directors and other members of the community appointed by the board. Sub-committees meet generally after business hours (i.e. 5.30pm – 7pm ) on a regular basis. The Finance and Audit sub-committee meets monthly whilst other sub-committees meet bi-monthly at the AQA offices in Fairfield. The opportunityThe board is seeking to appoint suitably qualified persons to serve on any of the sub-committees. Sub-Committee members are required to successfully complete a National Police Check and sign a confidentiality agreement. Sub-Committee members may apply for board director vacancies when they become available. Personal qualities and experience:In addition to the relevant technical skills inherent in each of the sub-committees (e.g. financial skills for Finance and Audit Sub-Committee) candidates should present evidence of an affinity with the not-for-profit / disability sector and/or demonstrated commitment to community service or voluntary activities.
