Not-For-Profit Board Committee Opportunities

Values-based Disability Support Organisation

AQA Victoria Ltd

The organisation

AQA Victoria Ltd provides services to people with disabilities and has established a credible reputation, in particular, for specialist services for those with spinal cord injury. AQA is a member based organisation with a vision to improve the quality of life of people affected by physical disability. We have a highly committed workforce and a board that values leadership, strong governance and accountability.

AQA’s Strategic Plan articulates the vision for the organisation. Other useful information about AQA and our services are available on this website.

The structure

The organisation is managed by a board of nine (9) honorary non-executive directors and the CEO. The Board is supported by a number of committees, which from time to time will have vacancies.

  • Finance and Audit
  • Development and Fundraising
  • Risk and Compliance
  • Nominations and Appointments

Each committee operates under a charter. Committee members comprise at least two (2) board directors and other members of the community appointed by the board. Committees meet generally after business hours (i.e. 5.30 – 7pm) on a regular basis. The Finance and Audit committee meets monthly whilst other committees meet bi-monthly at the AQA offices in Fairfield.

The opportunity

Opportunities arise from time to time to join board committees when vacancies arise. Committee members are required to successfully complete a National Police Check and sign a confidentiality agreement. Committee members may apply for board director vacancies when they become available.

Personal qualities and experience

In addition to the relevant technical skills inherent in each of the committees (e.g. financial skills for Finance and Audit committee) prospective candidates should present evidence of an affinity with the not-for-profit/disability sector and/or demonstrated commitment to community service or voluntary activities. Candidates with demonstrated alignment with the values of integrity, respect, passion and reliability, leadership and accountability are encouraged to apply.

Application

If you would like to enquire about any current vacancies on the board committees please contact the email admin@aqavic.org.auand the Board Chair or CEO will respond.
